Overview
========

This is the basic Gateway OEM Windows NT driver for the Ensoniq VIVO sound card.


Identification

1.  The sound card must contain the Ensoniq Soundscape VIVO chipset.

2.  Supported operating systems include Windows NT 4.0.


Installation

1.  After you have downloaded and double-clicked the snd022aa.exe file, the files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\snd022aa folder.

2.  Close all open programs.

3.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 
 
4.  In Control Panel, double-click the Multimedia icon.  Click the Devices tab, and then click Add. 
 
5.  Under the List of Drivers, select Unlisted or Updated Driver, and then click OK. 
 
6.  On the Install Driver screen, type: C:\Cabs\snd022aa.  Click OK. 
 
7.  In the Add Unlisted or Updated Driver dialog box, select ENSONIQ SoundscapeVIVO, and then click OK. 
 
8.  In the ENSONIQ SoundscapeVIVO Driver dialog box, the default settings appear.  Select the appropriate settings, and then click OK. 
 
9.  In the System Settings Change dialog box, click Restart Now to restart Windows. 


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 
 
2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Multimedia icon.  Click the Devices tab, and then in the Audio Devices box, select ENSONIQ SoundscapeVIVO.  

3.  Click Remove. 
 

Troubleshooting

Verify that the latest Service Pack is installed.

If you are having difficulty during or after driver installation, perform these troubleshooting steps. 

1.  Verify that all cables are securely connected.  

2.  Verify that the sound card is fully seated in the PCI expansion slot.

3.  Verify that your operating system is Windows NT 4.0, as this driver is only functional in this operating system.


Reason for Update

This is the latest Gateway-supported basic driver for the Ensoniq VIVO sound card.  This driver incorporates the following changes: 

1.  Added legacy mode.  This allows the driver to work when Plug and Play is not enabled.

2.  Resolved the one DMA channel issue.  When a dependent function was selected with only one DMA channel, the driver would fail to load.
