In 1989 the PCMCIA (Personel Computer Memory Card
International Association) was formed to solidify hardware
standards and software interface requirments for removable
memory cards and their receptacles. In the beginning, the
PCMCIA and its specifications dealt only with memory related
removable cards. The evolving standard now includes
definitions for the products (PC Cards) and slots.
To make the software interface independent of hardware,
there are specification extensions that define a hierarchy of
software functions. At the highest level is Card Service.
Tasks running on the system make calls to Card Services,
which manages the interaction among multiple applications
running on a host and the PCMCIA cards and their resources.
Card Services makes calls to the hardware-dependent Socket
Services to access card functions.

A server (not necessarily a web server) is acting as a gateway or proxy
to fulfil the request by the client to access the requested URL. The server did not receive a timely response from an upstream server it accessed to deal with your HTTP request.
This usually means that the upstream server is down
(no response to the gateway/proxy), rather than that the upstream server and the gateway/proxy do not agree on the protocol for exchanging data.

GW-BASIC stands for Gee Whiz BASIC. So named because version 1.0 actually worked on the 8080 processor
The MZ header of .EXE files is the initials of one Mark Zbikowski, one of the principle architects of MS-DOS 2.0
Intel didn't start with the 8086 and 8088 chips. There was also a 4004, 8008, 8080, and 8085 before those two. And after the 8086 and 8088, Intel made a 80186 and a 80188
Apple didn't stop making the Apple computer after the Apple IIC's and IIE's and IIGS's. They also made an Apple 3 and had plans for an Apple 4, which was possibly made. However, the introduction of the Macintosh put these to rest. Incedentaly, the C stands for Color, the E stands
for Enhanced, and the GS stands for Graphics System. The IIE was released before the IIC
The language C evolved from a language call B, which evolved from a language called BCPL (Basic CPL), which evolved from CPL (Computer Programming Language).
